We are currently recruiting for aEngineering Machinist to be based at our Sandtoft site in Doncaster.

Our Role

The main purpose of this role is to produce machined parts by programming, setting up, and operating conventional and computer numerical control (CNC) machines. Working to strict safety and quality requirements you will achieve daily production requirements in terms of quality and quantity, optimizing efficiency and maintaining operational excellence.

What Youll Do

  • Calculate dimensions and tolerances using knowledge of mathematics and instruments such as micrometers and Vernier callipers, rulers, measuring tapes or squares
  • Machine parts to specifications using machine tools such as lathes, milling machines, or grinders
  • Align and secure holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials onto machines
  • Monitor the feed and speed of machines during the machining process
  • Study sample parts, drawings and engineering information in order to determine methods and sequences of operations needed to manufacture products and determine product dimensions and tolerances
  • Select the appropriate tools, machines, and materials to be used in preparation of machinery work
  • Observe and listen to operating machines or equipment in order to diagnose machine malfunctions and to determine need for adjustments or repairs
  • Clean and lubricate machines, tools, and equipment in order to remove grease, rust, stains, and foreign matter
  • Program computers and electronic instruments such as computer numerical control (CNC) machine tools
  • Ensure that all parts are properly fitted, aligned etc
  • Ensure that quality control standards are met

What Youll Bring

  • Apprentice trained in mechanical engineering - City & Guilds
  • Apprenticeship for Machinist Advanced Manufacturing Engineering
  • Level 2 & 3 Diploma in Machining
  • Proficientinmilling and turning using both manual and CNC operations
  • Proficient in measuring equipment such as micrometers, verniers gauges, bore guages, metric & imperial measurements
  • Good exposure to health & safety standards
  • Must be fully conversant in both CNC turning and CNC milling plus either manual lathes or manual mills (or both)
  • Experience of operating systems i.e Fanuc, Heidenhain
  • Bench work experience
  • Good understanding and abilityto work from engineering drawings
  • Ability to work with a flexible and lateral thinking approach to problem solving
  • Experience in operating surface grinders is desirable

Hours of Work: Monday to Thursday,7.00am to 5.00pm and Friday, 7.00am to 2.30pm
