Senior Business Intelligence Developer


The Position

Our market leading insurance client are looking for a Senior Business Intelligence Developer to join the Analytics team within the Business Intelligence to lead all analytical capabilities for our insurance clients through the form of Actuarial, Advisory, Business Intelligence, Catastrophe Modelling and Research. This is enabled using data and technology to provide a competitive edge that will underpin the Group strategy and to develop new and innovative insurance products.

Summary of the role

* Delivering exceptional technical development on the Nova insights platform whose target market is primarily for external clients

* Ensuring all software fulfils project requirements and is delivered on schedule and to the expected standard

* Using the latest agreed upon back end technologies/frameworks

Responsibilities

* Ensuring all code meets any agreed upon coding standards and style guides

* Ensuring code and infrastructure you’re responsible for includes best practice security, with at least OWASP top 10 vulnerabilities covered

* Writing unit, feature & integration tests and achieving a high level of coverage

* Applying best practice design patterns

* Create comprehensive documentation when required

* Use of best practices within project framework

* Ensure data/input is properly validated and handled. Ensuring response times and query performance is optimal and meets any performance requirements

* Writing reusable libraries and modules where appropriate

* Manage deployments and code releases when required

Knowledge and Experience

* Strong git version control

* Very good understanding of SQL and relational database model

* Experienced with Python 3.7+ and best practices

* Familiar with Pandas and Numpy

* Familiar with Azure Cloud, Azure DevOps

* .Net framework and C#

* Database creation, integration, and management: relational + non-relational

* Unit testing (TDD bonus)

* Working within an agile environment

* Working knowledge of CMS frameworks

* API creation and integration

Professional Qualifications

Able to demonstrate from previous work or Degree-level education in related subject (software engineering, web development, computing, etc.) or equivalent proven commercial experience
