Our Sketchley School sites in Burbage, Hinckley and Narborough provide specialist education for young people aged 8-19 with high-functioning autism. Pupils may also have challenging behaviour as a result of their communication difficulties and a lack of social understanding.
Forest House is located in the village of Narborough, close to the city of Leicester. This site is where the majority of our Key Stage 4 pupils are based. Here they have the opportunity to complete GCSEs, functional skills qualifications and a range of academic curriculum enrichment, with the aim of working towards moving onto positive outcomes and destinations at Key Stage 5.
We are recruiting for a Teaching Assistant to join our Education team now! We are looking fora versatile, resilient and committed Teaching Assistants, who can adapt their practice wherever necessary to support across all key stages. The successful candidate will work alongside the class teacher, assisting our young people with their work and supporting with pupil behaviour while establishing good relationships, acting as a role model and responding to individual needs.
To join us as a Teaching Assistant, you will have the ability to support student’s academic learning in an autism-friendly way, as well as supporting wider behavioural and emotional needs. The majority of the role will require you to provide in-class support, but you may also be required to:
Support learners on a 1:1 basis
Assist class teachers with essential paperwork and records
Accompany students on educational visits and excursions
Travel between sites as needed.
You will also:

Be aware of the challenges faced by young people living with autism
Be highly-organised, reliable and punctual.
You must also hold a full driving licence; as part of your role will be working off-site with students engaging in curriculum activities; and be confident in using school vehicles.
